What do you know about home insurance involving a fire?

Question by pepermint p: What do you know about home insurance involving a fire?
My friend had a fire in her home, during the final days of the sale. The insurance company is trying to prove fraud on her part, which there is none, and she has not paid out since Sept. 28, 2006. She is going for a polygraph test later next month, in the mean time she has no where to live, they have given her $ 2500 living allowance and refuse to give her more at this time. Any suggestions on what she can or should do?

Did the fire dept come up with a cause for the fire? If it was “suspicious”, the company can have their SIU investigate. How long has she been waiting for payment? Obviously, the house didn’t sell. I would call the State Insurance Dept if she feels the investigation is taking too long – & she did nothing wrong.

What are average prices for small business insurance?

Question by Alexa: What are average prices for small business insurance?
This is for my high school project. Please answer!

Best answer:

Answer by fth106
It will vary a great deal depending on the type of small business. Some “main street” business policies are known as Business Owners Policy (BOP) and they can be as little as $ 500 per year, sometimes less expensive if the insurance market is “soft”. Other small businesses can carry a much higher level of risk and, therefore, a MUCH higher premium. (Sometimes in the tens of thousands of dollars per year.)
There really isn’t an average price for small business insurance.

Can an auto insurance company deny coverage for a person convicted of a non-driving related felony?

Question by bluecrane: Can an auto insurance company deny coverage for a person convicted of a non-driving related felony?
Time has been served; now being told that obtaining auto insurance will be difficult. Need transportation to work and continue life in new direction – vicious circle. What, if any, companies might be best to check?

Cheap Life Insurance for Full-Time College Student, Low Income?

Question by : Cheap Life Insurance for Full-Time College Student, Low Income?
Cheap Life Insurance for Full-Time College Student, Low Income?
I’m 19 year old female in Ohio. I had previously been on medicaid because I was still a minor. Now that I’m 19, I’m kicked off of it. I’m low income. I have a part time job and I’m enrolled at college full time. I’m looking for a cheap life insurance plan.

Also I’m a bit confused about terminology. Okay so is the deductible the amount you pay before they cover anything? Like for example, if it has a $ 2000 deductible and I go to the doctor and it costs 200 bucks, they don’t cover anything? Cause that sucks.

How does motorcycle insurance work?

Question by Ted R: How does motorcycle insurance work?
Ive been thinking about getting a motorcycle , but people have been telling me about how people can steal it. Im getting one anyway, with a gorilla alarm system, but if a person were to steal my bike would i get my money back from the insurance or a new bike ? what would i get?

Best answer:

Answer by Zarnev
What you’ll get depends upon the policy coverage. Comprehensive coverage covers theft. If the bike is stolen you’ll get a check for the value of the bike minus your deductible. You won’t “get your money back” nor will you get a new bike from the insurance company. If you can keep the bike in a garage you’ll get a better rate with many companies.

How much auto insurance do I need if I own a home and some other assests?

Question by Stacey M: How much auto insurance do I need if I own a home and some other assests?
My auto insurance company told me that if I’m in an accident and I don’t have enough auto insurance I can be sued and possibly lose my home. I never heard of anyone losing their home because of an auto accident. If I have a good driving record, how much insurance do I really need and can I really lose my home if I don’t have enough? and how do you collect from someone who doesn’t have any insurance? It seems stupid to carry uninsured insurance if I can sue someone for damages.

Technically, that is true, but it sounds like they are trying to scare you into buying a more expensive policy. If they are trying to pressure you into spending more, I would look elsewhere.

How can a government run health insurance entity “compete” with private companies? Will it pay taxes?

Question by bigj: How can a government run health insurance entity “compete” with private companies? Will it pay taxes?
It boggles my mind that the proponents of a government run health insurance entity would actual state that this entity would bring competition to the insurance arena. How would these private businesses compete with someone who does not have to pay taxes. How do companies compete with an entity that can literally raise taxes to pay for operational costs or an entity that is funded non voluntarily by the citizens of the United States? Can the private insurance companies pass legislation that changes the rules of the game in the insurance business? No but the government could certainly dictate the rules of their own business by passing legislation in its favor. Can someone please give me a logical reason as to how this government run health insurance option would do anything other than run private insurance into the ground to ultimately pave the way for the government to be the only health care option?

Answer by Romare
You apparently don’t know that most U.S. companies don’t pay taxes.
