Question by d3mon31: how much does motorcycle insurance cost in kansas for a 16 year old driver?
im 15, about to turn 16 and want to get a motorcycle. i only have a few dirtbikes that aren’t street legal and im thinking about getting a 1993 gsx750r this july for my bday. how much would i expect to pay for the insurance? i live in a rural area so it SHOULD cost less right?
i don’t want to give them my social security or my street adress… thats what all of them keep asking.
once again, i will say this only once again. I DON’T WANT TO GIVE THEM MY ADRESS OR MY SOCIAL SECURITY. thats why i am wanting someone to tell me how much THEY pay a month. easy as that.

Yeah – it should cost less technically. I would look online – and compare a few insurance places and get a general idea of how much it costs overall and then pick the cheapest one. I would say its very affordable. Being 16 doesnt help but maintain a B average and your payments will be lowered.

Ive been thinking about getting a motorcycle , but people have been telling me about how people can steal it. Im getting one anyway, with a gorilla alarm system, but if a person were to steal my bike would i get my money back from the insurance or a new bike ? what would i get?

What you’ll get depends upon the policy coverage. Comprehensive coverage covers theft. If the bike is stolen you’ll get a check for the value of the bike minus your deductible. You won’t “get your money back” nor will you get a new bike from the insurance company. If you can keep the bike in a garage you’ll get a better rate with many companies.

I am a 20 year old male who was just curious if I didn’t have insurance on my motorcycle and and got into a crash which caused damage to another person’s property would my parents have legal liability of my damages since I am still claimed as a dependent and still live at home.

No, you would be since you’re over 18. However, since you’re a dependent they could peruse your parents for their assets once a judgement is levied against you.

How much would motorcycle insurance cost for a 19 year old male? I am looking at a kawasaki ninja 250r I also have car insurance I have never had a wreck, and I really want a motorcycle but if the insurance is really high then I will have to wait.

I have a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja. Its paid for with no lien, I have PIP liability insurance. My friend borrows my bike from time to time, he does have a current motorcycle license. If he crashed the bike into someone is it still covered?

If you agreed to loaning it, the damage to the other car and person would be covered to the $ $ that you chose as your coverage. If the $ $ is over that, YOU will have to pay for it.
Damage to your friend and your bike will NOT be covered.

I want to get a motorcycle and I have a car. I am selling my car and buying the bike. Am not worried about passing the licensing test or anything like that. Am wondering about how much motorcycle insurance runs. Anyone that can help with some examples or ratios in their personal life of how much a bike costs compared to a car?

Your insurance on your first bike will probably be more than your car insurance was. You will save some money if that bike a.) is not a sportbike, b.) has a small-ish motor (less than 1000cc), c.) is used and fairly cheap. Taking the MSF course will also keep your payments down.

As you gain a couple years experience, prove to be a competent rider (no tickets or insurance claims) and get a car again (so you can list your bike as a “recreational vehicle” on your insurance) your rates will go down and could be cheaper than your car.

EDIT: Bear in mind that the people throwing out numbers below are NOT new riders. They are experienced riders with more than one vehicle. Go to Progressive.com or somewhere are run a quote, you’ll see that you’ll be paying much more than what they are.

Hey i’m 16 and thinking about getting like a 450cc motorcycle. I was just curious how much insurance would be. I do have motorcycle experience and I plan on taking my motorcycle liscence test soon. and no warnings or advice i’ve heard it all. I just want an opinion on price. Thanks

okay so i went through a bunch of insurance articles to find an average but all they said is it depends, or there are a lot of factors, or many variables, etc and all that crap.
SO….: Im 19
i have had two speeding tickets (sneaky cameras) otherwise clean
no MSF course (learned how to ride from an uncle)
2009 ninja 650r (lime green if it matters)
first bike, new rider
live in maryland…suburbanish
i’m a salesman…goin to college
and i have a trailer to keep my bike for the winter

HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST (guesstimate if you have to) thanks

Guesstimate, $ 1000 w/o MSF. $ 600 – $ 700 with MSF.
